Prices of the web designer

Back to the Index page | Write your own comment

Webdesign has become a serious profession. The quality of websites has been gradually improving and by now there are real experts behind the more sophisticated ones. If someone is good at photoshop that does not necessarily mean he is a good web designer, even if he thinks so.

Pros ask the price of their work while amateurs try to operate with lower prices. I keep getting loads of emails in which people would like to have a website for rock bottom prices. This is of course out of the question.

Many of them may wonder why on earth I charge more than the average price? I could shoot them the usual bullshit bla-bla about professionalism and quality but no!
In my case it’s the talent and 15 years of experience that has to be paid…

So how do you separate the talent from the chancers?

It’s indeed hard for lay clients to distinguish between talented professionals and chancers since the latter ones steal design elements from the pros.

Agreed! This is something I’m telling to them :-)

Great post, I agree, some potential clients really take the Mickey. I think some people assume everything on a computer is automatic! In the end they get what they pay for :)
